Men's Health IV Therapy EducatioN

Men's IV Therapy has been shown to be helpful for a wide range of clinical conditions with sometimes dramatic results. We have tailored this IV to meet the specific needs of men. You will be receiving Mountain River IV, Health & Wellness formulation of this IV with adjustments based upon your individual needs as determined by our Brian Johnson, FNP-C.

Men's IV formulations are generally used to treat the following: 

• Athletic performance
• Depression
• Fatigue
• Fibromyalgia/polymyalgia rheumatica
• Hyperthyroidism
• Hypogonadism (low testosterone)
• Migraine, Acute
• Narcotic withdrawal 
• Sinusitis (chronic)
• Upper respiratory infection
• Urticaria (chronic) 

• Make sure to drink fluids before, during and after infusions. 
• You may eat before and after an infusion. It is preferred.
• It is recommended not to test your glucose or an INR after a Vitamin C infusion. Vitamin C may cause false readings. If you do check, do NOT treat based on the results. 

• Magnesium is a naturally occurring mineral. Magnesium is important for many systems in the body, especially the muscles and nerves. Magnesium chloride is used to treat or prevent magnesium deficiency (lack of natural magnesium in the body).
• Zinc is an essential mineral involved in numerous aspects of cellular metabolism. It is the 2nd most abundant trace mineral in your body. It plays key roles in the activity of other enzymes in the body. Important in immune function, protein synthesis, wound healing, gene expression, growth and development. Studies have also shown that zinc may play an important role in serum testosterone levels in men.
• Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) occurs naturally in foods such as citrus fruit, tomatoes, potatoes, and leafy vegetables. Vitamin C is important for bones and connective tissues, muscles, and blood vessels. Vitamin C also helps the body absorb iron, which is needed for red blood cell production. Ascorbic acid is used to treat and prevent Vitamin C deficiency.
• Vitamin B Complex. The B vitamins help enzymes work properly and are important for a wide range of cellular functions, like breaking down carbohydrates and transporting nutrients throughout the body. Adequate amounts of B vitamins are essential for optimal physiological and neurological functioning. B vitamins can also significantly improve mood and reduce physiological response to stress.
• Glutathione is an antioxidant produced naturally by the liver. It is involved in tissue building and repair, making chemicals and proteins, and enhancing the immune system.

Occasionally to commonly:

• Discomfort, bruising, and pain at the site of injection
• General feeling of warmth during and after the infusion

Rarely:

• Inflammation of the vein used for injection, phlebitis, metabolic disturbances, and injury
• Reactive Hypotension (or rapid drop in blood pressure)
• Reactive Hypoglycemia (or rapid drop in blood sugar)
• Extremely Rare: Severe allergic reaction, anaphylaxis, infection, cardiac arrest and death.

Safety precautions:

• Monitor the insertion site for signs and symptoms of infections (redness, swelling, discharge). Notify the clinic immediately at (208) 528-6749. 
• If you experience a sustained fever greater than 101, do not delay treatment and go to the ER as this can be a sign of sepsis.
• If you experience a minor side effect while you are at home, you should contact the clinic at (208) 528-6749. Otherwise contact your medical provider or call 911.
